Akron's public pools provide a fun, family-oriented destination for residents to come together and cool down in the Summer. Funding from the American Rescue Plan Act will be used to upgrade Perkins pool.

Pool Facility Assessment Process

In 2020, the City of Akron launched a community wide assessment of its pool facilities to determine which facilities were most in need of improvements and what specific upgrades residents wanted to see.

  • Held in person events at Summit Lake Farmers Market September 2020

  • Held virtual review with Council members

  • Received 500 responses to a community survey

Perkins Pool Upgrades

Based on resident feedback, the City of Akron has planned the following major upgrades to Perkins Pool. These upgrades will create a better space for all residents for years to come.

Upgrade Schedule & Costs

  • • Perkins Pool is scheduled to break ground on renovations this fall.

  • • Initial cost estimates for the Perkins Pool upgrade are $5.5M

  • • Anticipated completion is Summer 2023
